Tim Upperton’s first poetry collection, A House On Fire (Steele Roberts), appeared in 2009.
His poems have been published widely in magazines in New Zealand and internationally, and in anthologies such as The Best of Best New Zealand Poems, Villanelles, Obsession: Sestinas in the Twenty-First Century, and 150 Essential New Zealand Poems. He won the Bronwyn Tate Memorial International Poetry Competition in 2011, and the Caselberg Trust International Poetry Competition in 2012 and 2013.
Poems from Tim's latest collection The Night we Ate the Baby (Haunui Press 2014) have featured on the Best American Poetry website Beattie's Book Blog and on Kim Hill's 2014 Poetry Roundup with Gregory O'Brien. Ashleigh Young's delightful review of Tim's collection is well worth clicking over for a look too along as is that of the NZ Poetry Shelf.
In November 2015, we were thrilled when Tim's Kete Series title made it onto the inaugural longlist for the Ockham NZ Book Awards and are awaiting news of the shortlist, due out in early March 2016.
